Some Quotes from Joel Osteen

1. Joel Osteen-(born March 5, 1963, in Houston, Texas) is the senior pastor of Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas, North America’s largest and fastest growing church averaging more than 42,000 attendees at weekly services. He is also the author of the #1 New York Times bestseller, Your Best Life Now,and his television ministry is the most watched inspirational program in America.

2. Took over Dad’s ministry in 1999: John said, “It's God's will for you to live in prosperity instead of poverty. It's God's will for you to pay your bills and not be in debt. It's God's will for you to live in health and not in sickness all the days of your life.”

3. Osteen quotes:

a) Osteen’s upbeat style is deliberate and authentic. ‘Make church relevant,’ he says. ‘Give them something to be able to take away. I find today people are not looking for theology. There’s a place for it, [But] in your everyday life you need to know how to live.
b) "It's not a churchy feel," Osteen, 40, said. "We don't have crosses up there. We believe in all that, but I like to take the barriers down that have kept people from coming. A lot of people who come now are people that haven't been to church in 20 to 30 years."
c) "I think for years there's been a lot of hellfire and damnation. You go to church to figure out what you're doing wrong and you leave feeling bad like you're not going to make it," Osteen said. "We believe in focusing on the goodness of God."
d) Interview with Larry King: KING: “What if you're Jewish or Muslim, you don't accept Christ at all? OSTEEN: “You know, I'm very careful about saying who would and wouldn't go to heaven. I don't know ...KING: “If you believe you have to believe in Christ? They're wrong, aren't they?OSTEEN: “Well, I don't know if I believe they're wrong. I believe here's what the Bible teaches and from the Christian faith this is what I believe. But I just think that only God with judge a person's heart. ... I don't know all about their religion. But I know they love God. And I don't know. I've seen their sincerity. So I don't know. I know for me, and what the Bible teaches, I want to have a relationship with Jesus.
2 Timothy 4:3-4- For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away [their] ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

The fact that Joel is one of America's most celebrated pastors says a lot about the state of American "Christianity"!

Joel Osteen is a disgrace to all evangelical pastors out there! If he were to preach a real sermon he would lose all of his money and people! Now he doesn't want that to happen! The reality is,he's going to die. I can only hope and pray that he comes to his senses before that happens. Also may God have mercy on all those people he's already "taught" another gospel to (2 Corinth 11:4).

Joel says: You may make some mistakes-but that doesn't make you a sinner. You've got the very nature of God on the inside of you.

Bible says:The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? Jer 17:9
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. 1 John 1:8,10
Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. 1 John 3:4
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23

Joel says:You can change your world by changing your words... Remember, death and life are in the power of the tongue.

Bible says:Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!—James 3:5 And the tongue [is] a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.—James 3:6
But the tongue can no man tame; [it is] an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.—James 3:8

Joel says:. Listen; don’t dangle people over the fires of hell. Lisa and I
always kid about you know we’re going to dangle them over the fires of hell. Listen,
that doesn’t draw people to God. They know what kind of life they live. They know
how bad they’ve lived. What you’ve got to do is talk about the goodness of God.
Listen, it’s the goodness of God that brings people to repentance. It’s the goodness
of God.

Bible says:The fear of the LORD [is] the beginning of knowledge: [but] fools despise wisdom and instruction. Prov 1:7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. Prov 3:7
So when you, a mere man, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God's judgment? 4 Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God's kindness leads you toward repentance?
5 But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God's wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. 6 God “will give to each person according to what he has done.” 7 To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. 8 But for those who are self‑seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger. Romans 2:3-8(NIV)

Who are you gonna believe? Joel or the Holy Word of God?
I pray that they read their own bibles and realize that this man is a fake. You can be sincere in everything you do and also be sincerely wrong. Do you want to go to hell for someone else's mistake? Read the bible for yourself and pray to God for wisdom. In Christ,Mrs. Stephanie Deyo 2 Tim 2:15

To say he is a disgrace is just very sad. You haven't had your life change 360 degrees because of his preaching, his hope, his love, his caring. You might hear bits and pieces and think you know what he has said. All that you wrote I never heard. I've seen him in person, I've given his book to 100 people to change their lives as it has mine. It brought a Catholic who had strayed from the Church to reading the Bible and attending a different Church, to giving every day to other people, to helping people, to being kind, faithful, praying daily. You really don't know until you lived his sermons. To say anything bad about him is quite sad as he has spent his life giving to others to helping them understand Christ. All that you said I have never heard, you need to see him, hear him to really understand what he is all about. He has the largest Church in the country, dah, he is doing something right. He has changed my world and everyone around it and brought me to God, that is all I need to know. Maybe you should do your homework before you throw out your anger and hate....

I'll believe Joel over your misguided beliefs any day! Go into government if all you care about is rules and regulations!
